Frequently Asked Question
What exactly is line rental and call packages - don't BT do that for me?
OneVoice takes over the billing and management of your line rental and calls charges from BT, so you'll get billed from us instead each month. We buy from BT Wholesale, and other carriers at reduced prices so that we can pass on savings to you.
Do I have to change my number?
No, you keep the same number
What if I want to change supplier?
You can switch at any time, with just 1 months notice required. We don't believe you should be tied to long contracts.
What's VOiP and are your packages based on VoiP?
Voice-over IP is where your calls are sent over your broadband connection instead of the traditional PSTN network. This often means much cheaper calls. Our OneVoice packages are not based on VOIP technology because we feel it's not ready yet. Call quality, dropouts and reliability are still issues. Our pricing is cheaper than many VOiP products you can get without the sacrifice of quality.
How come BT charge 20p for an international call whereas you can charge 1p
We've negotiated special wholesale rates for alternative routes for our international traffic. Because we believe in simpler pricing we've tried to keep all the prices the same where possible, rather than a huge list of different pricing which most providers chop and change at will.
How long does the transfer take?
Usually 14 days.
What is LLU unbundling?
LLU is Local Loop Unbundling. The "Local Loop" is the telephone cabling from your exchange to your house. LLU companies can install their own equipment in your exchange and route your calls onto their own dedicated network. The problem with this is that the cable has to be physically moved, making changing back to a BT-based line difficult, often expensive. Our packages are BT-based and not LLU' d.
What about 1571 and other call features, do I keep those
We transfer your line as a like-for-like transfer meaning any extra features you have on your line are also transferred. We do make extra charges for these additional services.
Will my broadband be affected?
No, there'll be no downtime in your broadband. Transferring your line and call charges to us is merely an administrative task. No changes are physically made to your line.
